Policy Priorities.

AJ Awed will champion promises and policies for Minneapolis that bring people from around the entire city together. Our city and neighborhoods have a ‘duty of care’ to every resident - and AJ’s policy priorities puts residents at their heart.

Support families and communities through neighborhood-centric health care and services - with priority on communities who are struggling with drug addiction, systemic racism, environmental impacts, and neighborhood homelessness.

Support action, efforts, and funding that provides public housing, rent control and assistance, tenant purchasing rights, and similar renter protections to ensure every resident has a proper and affordable place to call home.

Architect and implement a new model for Public Safety in Minneapolis - that will include comprehensive consultation and support from neighborhoods and marginalized communities - and will ensure Public Safety is provided and dedicated to the well-being of every single resident.

Champion local 'Green New Deal' initiatives and incentives that will contribute to radically addressing local climate change impacts and committing the city to contribute to necessary reductions - and ensure these provide for an equitable economy with increased employment and widespread financial security for all.

Fight for neighborhood small businesses and artists and ensure they have opportunities to compete against monopolistic corporations and artistic elites. Entrepreneurship and creativity are at the heart of every neighborhood in the city and make them unique - and we must oppose gentrification or displacement without comprehensive consultation and support from neighborhoods and marginalized communities.
